Mercè Crosas

Head of Computational Social Sciences, Barcelona Supercomputing Center

Mercè Crosas is the Head of the Computational Social Sciences program at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. She leads this new program that aims to facilitate the use of data and computing in the social sciences and humanities and advance new computational research in these domains. Mercè’s work focuses on computational and data science, data sharing, and open and FAIR data. Prior to this role she was at Harvard University, where she co-led a broad range of projects, including the development of the open-source platform dataverse.org. She is a co-author of the FAIR principles and the data citation principles. Mercè is also the President of CODATA, the Committee on Data of the International Science Council, and is an affiliate of the Institute for Quantitative Social Science at Harvard University.
